campsite relais de la bresque between var and verdon
Our campsite is located in Sillans-la-Cascade, a little Provincial village in the northern Var. The village is known for its waterfalls, the highest in the Var. The succession of wild canyons, the shaded prairies and the waterfalls all along the Bresque make this river a little gem. You will marvel at the clear water and the emerald reflections accentuated by the tufa waterfall. The river continues down to Salernes, then Entrecasteaux, and finally empties into the Argens east of Carcès.
A beautiful 800 m walk through centuries-old plane trees takes you to this gorgeous 42 m waterfall. The Bresque river is fed by beautiful sources at Bresc Castle and the Ourcq valley, after which it rushes into a swirling lake. You can also admire the falls from another path that leaves from the school parking lot, which was once the village train station, and takes you to the lookout. At the end of the stairs you arrive in front of the falls, the perfect place to take pretty souvenir pictures. On the way up from the falls, you pass by the Saint-Etienne church. You can head up even higher and walk around the narrow streets of the old village surrounded by fortifications. Finally, if you follow the path that leaves from the parking lot next to the road that leads to the falls, you will find the Saint-Laurent chapel. The campsite is surrounded by shaded forests, there is a workout course just behind us, and there are many paths leading into the woods where you can walk or bike.
